New friends come in all hairstyles

Published: Tuesday, May 13, 2008 7:31 PM MST

Every day is a good hair day at The Animal League of Green Valley. Hairdos come in various colors and styles on just the right dog or cat who will fit into that little empty niche in your family. Why not stop in soon to see what a great job the volunteers are doing at TALGV.

Missy 2

If you are looking for a flat-out gorgeous feline, stop right here! Missy 2 is a stunning, long-haired, spayed and declawed, calico lady whose mom got her from a shelter 10 years ago when she was a year old. Her mom recently had to go into an assisted living facility and, sadly, Missy 2 couldn’t come along, so TALGV, having been established just for situations like this, took her in and is looking for a home where she’ll be happy and comfortable for the rest of her life.

She’s only lived with a quiet, older, person, so everyone agrees that that kind of home would be best for her now, too.

Missy 2 is very sweet and lovable with her people (especially women), and although she might be a bit shy at first, once she gets to know you, she’ll be yours forever. Missy 2 is easy in the food department, as she eats only dry food, and then only a quarter cup twice a day, because, like a lot of people, “if it’s there, she’ll eat it,” and she needs to watch her girlish figure!

Having said all this, if you’re looking for a beautiful, quiet, furry companion, Missy 2 couldn’t fit the bill better.

Tigger

Tigger is sweetness personified! He simply loves people, other cats, and even dogs. He was rescued from a shelter in Tucson by a lovely lady. After only two weeks, she realized that her older cat was never going to accept Tigger, and since she was there first, Tigger had to be the one to leave. He tried so hard to keep a low profile, but it just wasn’t going to happen.

Anyway, here he is again (at least this time he’s in a protected place!), scrutinizing everyone that passes by to see if maybe he’s the one for him or her and vice versa.

Tigger is a handsome, 1-year-old, brown tabby boy who has the most dreamy topaz eyes! He loves to play with his toys, is super affectionate, and simply adores attention.

He must be an indoor cat, because he’s been declawed, but then every cat should be indoors around here! As they say in the song, if you’ve been “looking for love in all the wrong places,” you’ve finally come to the right one!

Boo

Boo and his brothers, Butch (already adopted), Barney, and Bruno are four, knock-your-socks-off adorable, 8-week-old, brothers who were found along Old Nogales Highway. It took a lot of doing to rescue them from dire circumstances, so everyone is very glad that they were able to come to TALGV where they’re safe, well-fed, well-doctored and, of course, well loved!

From their coloring and spots, they appear to be spaniel, Aussie, or pointer mixes, but no matter the breed, they are just downright sweet, smart, and wonderful in the way only puppies can be!

They are now ready to be adopted to homes where they will become treasured members of the family.

TALGV is looking for people who are going to take the time to train them and make sure that they get all the regular vet care they’ll need to help them grow into healthy, loving companions. TALGV adopts puppies to families where they are not left alone without people for more than 4 hours a day on a regular basis.

Milo

If you’re looking for a pool partner (the swimming kind), Milo’s the perfect guy for you. He simply loves water, and one of the best things he can think of is joining you for a few laps (or splashing around in a “kiddie” pool if you don’t have the real thing).

Of course, he also likes lots of other things, too (in case you don’t have a pool!), like playing with toys, kids (older ones), other dogs and, of course, people.

Milo has never been around cats, so we don’t know how he’d be with them.

We do know that he is a mostly white, 7-year-old, 30-pound, purebred, neutered, Jack Russell terrier.

His beloved dad became disabled awhile back and couldn’t care for him any more, so he’s hoping that Milo will find the home of his dreams with all (or mostly all) of the above! If you know Jack Russells, you know what intelligent and loyal companions they can be, so what’s stopping you? Take Milo home right now!

For more information about these and other lovable pets waiting for their own, special home, visit The Animal League of Green Valley at 1600 W. Duval Mine Road, call 625-3170, or visit www.talgv.org.

If you can spare a 3- or 4-hour block of time each week, please contact TALGV to find out about the many volunteer opportunities available. Many people have left for the summer, and we are especially in need of dog walkers and men who can help us lift and move heavy items.
