May 14

Green Valley Amateur Radio Club meets at 7 p.m. at the SAV Building. Topic will be “Mobile Radio Installations.” Ken Hall, KE7LKY, is doing a video or PowerPoint presentation. Information: President Ron Gross, AD7FV, 762-5847.

May 15

Santa Rita Nursing and Rehabilitation Center invites the community to a free breakfast and car show from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. to celebrate Nursing Home Week. Breakfast will be in the front parking lot. At 7 p.m. there will be a free ice cream social and outdoor screening of the classic family movie “The Great Race.” Everyone is welcome.

A public meeting on “Mining and the Impacts in the Sahuarita Area” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sahuarita Baptist Church, 2875 E. Sahuarita Road. The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by Save the Scenic Santa Ritas. Information: 520-495-4339.

Valle Verde Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. at Green Valley Community Church. Great Expectations Academy’s award-winning Jazz Band will entertain. Information: Lynne Skelton, 625-8286.

Native Seeds/SEARCH will present plans for its new facility at 9 a.m. at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park, Tucson. (Enterance on River Road east of Alvernon Way.) The seed bank will be built in cooperation with Pima County. Information: 520-260-3905.

Cribbage will be played at 9:30 a.m. every Friday at Casa Community Center, 780 S. Park Centre near La Posada. No memberships, fees, dues. Group not GVR. All skill levels welcome. Information: Bill, 393-1062.

Women's International League meets for a potluck luncheon and program honoring the late columnist Molly Ivins at noon at The meeting House, 93` N. 5th Ave., Tucson Information: 791-9535.

Democratic Women in Action meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Joyner-Green Valley Library. Arizona Corporation Commission candidates Kara Kelty and Sandra Kennedy will speak. Meeting is free and open to the public.

Saturday Breast Cancer Survivors meet at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church, 600 La Canada Drive. Bring a brown bag lunch if you wish; coffee will be provided. Information: Carol Lyons, 625-5458. Reservations not necessary. All ladies who would like to share their experiences welcome.
