GV bowlers wrap up league play with a bang

Green Valley bowlers recently put the finishing touches on yet another memorable campaign.

The Villagers Senior Bowling League ended its season April 15, with a 9-Pin, No-Tap tournament and their annual awards banquet at the Grill on the Green.

The “We Be Jammin’” team of Mary Kamrath, Wally Kayser, Les and Lupe Albert captured the league crown.

Angie Tally and Stan Meushaw won the annual 9-Pin No-Tap tourney. George Sumner provided the highlight of the tournament with his perfect game.

Other bowlers earning recognition at the banquet include:

  • High-average: Sally Turner (180), Wally Kayser (191).


  • Most-improved: Mary Hagan (Plus 18), Chuck Pffenbarger (Plus 19).

  • High handicap series: Sally Turner (776), Wally Kayser (751).

  • High handicap game: Lee Beuckens (279), Bob Sisson (303).

  • High scratch series: Nancy Peterson (615), Stan Meushaw (691).

  • High scratch game: Rosela Sauve (238), Monte Dragon (265).

  • Officers for 2008-09: President Patty Stephens, Vice President Jerry Baldridge and Secretary/Treasurer Matt Medina.

    All area seniors 50 years of age and older are invited to join the league known to be one of the best in the area.

    After the annual summer sabbatical, the league will meet for the new season Aug. 19, at the lanes and start compition Aug. 26.

    Elks results

    As for the Elks, their senior league ended their season with their own 9-Pin No-Tap tourney on Apr. 25.

    Shirley Seaton and Bob Littlejohn took top honors, and Bob Sisson rolled himself a perfect game.

    The season ended with an awards banquet May 3 at the Elks Lodge.

    Co-championship honors were shared by Jani Roberson, Shirley Seaton, Kent Phillips, Linda Phillips, Sally Geffs, Bob Hyslop, Pat Beattie and Leonard Janka.

  • High-average: Marian Davis (161), Ezra Rice (200).

  • Most-improved: Jane Lawson (Plus 8), Kent Phillips (Plus 16).

  • High handicap series: Lori Marvin (733), Don Bristol (748)

  • High handicap game: Patty Stephens (272), Bob Hyslop (292)

  • High scratch series: Marian Davis (570), Ezra Rice (718).

  • High scratch game: Jani Roberson (205), George Sumner (265).

  • Officers for 2008-09: President Jerry Baldridge, Vice President George Sumner and Secretary/Treasurer Matt Medina.

    All area Elks and spouses 50 years of age and older are invited to join any time by calling the Green Valley Lanes at 625-5463 or Matt Medina at 648-1805.

    Leagues will hold their annual meetings and new member orientation at the Green Valley Lanes Sept. 5.

    The general membership meeting takes place Sept. 12, and the league will start Sept. 17.
