Guest Comment: Statistics on illegal aliens

I have read, over the past few weeks, the letters in your paper regarding the illegal border crossers. Please don’t call them immigrants. Ellis Island was full of immigrants. Our borders are full of illegal crossers.

The prime word here being “ illegal.”

Many of those letters are saying that the illegals only want work, and they mean the citizens of the United States no harm. But according to The Heritage Foundation’s Robert Rector, that’s a lot of bull hockey. Due to the limited space in this paper, what I have written is only a partial list of the facts presented by Mr. Rector, and are only those problems associated with Arizona.

Our problems are shared by California, Texas, Nevada and New Mexico, pretty much equally, but these same problems are also shared by the remainder of the United States, but to a lesser degree.

This information was last updated July 20, 2007, and is available online, for anyone to see.

Eighty-three percent of warrants for murder in Phoenix are for illegals.

Seventy-five percent of those on the most wanted list in Phoenix are illegals.

Forty point 1 percent of inmates in detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

Fifty-three percent of all investigated burglaries reported in Arizona are perpetrated by illegals.

Seventy-one percent of all apprehended cars stolen in Arizona are stolen by illegals, or “transport coyotes” for transporting people and/or drugs throughout the United States.

Sixty-three percent of cited/stopped drivers in Arizona have no license, insurance or registration for the vehicle. Of that 63 percent, 98 percent are in this country illegally.

And on, and on, and on. I did not show how they are costing us millions, and millions of dollars each year. Like the fact that there are approximately 330,000 notch babies born each year, which we all pay for.

I firmly believe that if an American citizen would ever try to inter Mexico illegally, for whatever reason. and attempted to run from the police, they would be shot dead.

I am certainly not condoning shooting people, but we need to hire many more Border Patrol agents to assure our safety.

It seems as if we are at war along the border, and we are being outnumbered, and outgunned. The agents are being stoned, and shot at, and what is their newest “high tech” weapon to combat this border terrorism, a paint ball gun! My feelings are that should the Border Patrol Agents be threatened with bodily harm, then they should retaliate in kind. If the illegals know that we mean to protect our borders, at any cost, they would think twice before crossing our borders illegally.
