Teed Off Golf shop opens at Green Valley Plaza

Co-owners Mark Bond and George Patterson and are open for business in their new golf shop, Teed Off Golf.

Located at 175 S. La Canada in the Green Valley Plaza, Teed Off Golf carries a full line of golf equipment from Nike, Taylor Made and Adams.

The brand new shop has a full line of golf apparel including, shoes, gloves, hats and shirts. George Patterson is an accomplished golf technician that can fit and repair clubs and replace grips on site. Golfers can get the “feel” of the newest clubs and check their swings with the golf simulator and putting green.

Mark and George wanted to create a high quality golf shop in Green Valley, but they also wanted to keep prices in line.

Bond said: ”Our prices are compatible with the Tucson market, but you don’t have to make that drive to get the quality customers expect.” Teed Off Golf has access to almost any kind of club or accessory available. “If we don’t have it, we’ll get it for you” Patterson said.

Custom Plus adds new technology

Custom Plus has announced a new “graphics on crystal” capability called Chroma-Crystal.

This new technology allows Custom Plus to put color photos on glass, producing unique high-quality crystal corporate awards, recognition pieces and keepsakes.

Rental Center’s Gallas earns Certification

Dustin Gallas has completed the Stihl Factory School “Silver Certification” program.

The program trains, tests and awards students for performance excellence in repairing and maintaining Stihl products.

The Green Valley Rental Center is a factory authorized Stihl dealer and is an authorized Stihl warranty and repair center.

Full-service pet resort opening in Amado

On Saturday, June 7, Santa Cruz County will have its first full-service pet resort dedicated to dogs and cats.

Located at 2875 East Frontage Road in Amado, Central Pet opens a 9,600-square-foot facility that will offer boarding, grooming and training.

The new facility is state-of-the-art with “cat” walks and a natural environment.

Dogs can swim, or run in open areas - even watch a movie. Piped-in music, private porches, and a well-stocked retail area are other unique amenities.

The pet resort was founded by Julie Grounds and is managed by General Manager Seth Jones.

Central Pet is accepting reservations at (520) 398-8661. Its grand opening celebration will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 7.

Harkins Theaters opens megaplex

Today marks the opening of a new Harkins Theaters all digital megaplex facility off Interstate 19 at Irvington Road, about 20 miles north of Green Valley.

The new Harkins Tucson Spectrum 18 offers luxury stadium seating with amenities such as high-backed rocking love seats, wall-to-wall screens, digital sound and projection. A “gourmet” snack bar, tickets-by-phone, Internet, or on-site kiosks are part of the new megaplex.

Another new feature is the Harkins PlayCenter, an in-lobby childcare center supervised by certified professionals.

The Harkins Tucson Spectrum is located on the southwest corner of I-19-Irvington interchange.

Grand Opening ceremonies begin at 11 a.m. today.

Cox Communications names area VP

Lisa Lovallo has been named Cox Communications vice president and system manager for Tucson and Southern Arizona operations.

Lovallo replaces Anne Doris, who was promoted in December to general manager of Cox’s Cleveland, Ohio, operations. Lovallo’s responsibilities will include all business, community and government affairs for the Southern Arizona markets.

Ex-Green Valley author finalist for award

Former Green Valley resident R. Joe King has been named a finalist in the Western Writers of America 2008 Spur Awards.

King’s book, “Shadows in the Rain: A Tale of Old Klamath, California,” was entered in the “Best First Novel” category.

King’s Arizona roots can be traced back to 1864 when his great-grandfather Joseph King, and William Wrightson, were both with the Sonora Exploring and Mining Co. and the Santa Rita Silver Mining Co. R. Joe King and his wife Cindy were residing in Green Valley during the publishing of the book in 2007. Mary Bingham of Blue Traveler Press published the book. Phone: 780-0160
