NewsMembers of MedianGreen lined up last week to get water to help do just what their name says — keep roadway medians green. MedianGreen, organized by Susanne Blodgett, wants to make sure the desert-landscaped medians remain green, using native plants such as cactus, Green Valley Fire District is using some of its pumpers to replenish the 305-gallon reservoirs on some of the medians. Neighbors and MedianGreen members will tap into the reservoirs for the water to sustain the plant growth. One of the first reservoirs to be filled was on a median just west of Villas East. The plans call for Villas East residents to help themselves to the water in the reservoirs to nurture plant in need of a drink. Taking part in the first days of activities of filling the cisterns then fill buckets and garden hoses are, from left, Jim Stepheni, Bonnie Stepheni, Joe Benanti, who is president-elect of Villas East, Jan Brust. and her husband Tom Ward, also Villas East. Ward is the Green Valley aide of Pima County Supervisor Ray Carroll. Blodgett said there are several arrangements for people to schedule watering the medians. jlamb@gvnews.com | 547-9749
