Crime Log - Thieves steal tools from construction site

More than $5,000 worth of tools were stolen Wednesday from a Green Valley construction site, Pima County Sheriff’s reports said.

The tools, owned by Phoenix contracting firm Loftco, included several electric saws, nail guns and planers. They were discovered missing from a work trailer parked on a construction site near the 600 block of North Calle Torres Blancas.

There was no sign of a break-in and the doors to the trailer were locked, reports said.

  • A car parked in the FICO pecan groves was discovered stolen Wednesday morning, Sheriff’s reports said.

    The owner of the grey, 1988 Ford Crown Victoria told officers he’d left his keys in his vehicle, located in the orchards southwest of 10 E. Continental Road, reports said.

    There are no leads at this time.


  • A stolen vehicle believed to be associated with illegal immigrant smuggling was found abandoned in front of a San Ignacio Vistas II home, Monday, Pima County Sheriff’s reports said.

    The green 1994 Ford Astro van, parked in the 4700 block of South Longmore Drive, was reported missing from a Tucson residence Monday around 4 a.m., reports said.

    Residents in the Green Valley neighborhood told officers they’d seen several illegal immigrants in the vicinity on the vehicle around 9 a.m. that morning, reports said.

    The van was towed and stored at the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Green Valley substation.
