Green Valley Branch No. 77, Fleet Reserve Association, will have a special session of its regular monthly luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. at the Cow Palace in Amado. The group will be awarding a prize to our Southwest Regional second-place winner of the annual Americanism Essay Contest. Come and help us celebrate this outstanding achievement. Active duty, reserve and retired personnel and honorably discharged former members (veterans) of all services who have some enlisted service in the Sea Services, and their spouses are invited. Sonoran Astronomical Society meets at La Posada’s rec hall across from the observatory. Social hour at 7 p.m., talk at 7:30 by Father George V. Coyne, a Jesuit priest, astronomer and former director of the Vatican Observatory. He is now head of the observatory’s research group based at the University of Arizona. He will talk on “The Dance of the Fertile Universe: Chance and Destiny Embrace.”
