NewsBaby Girl You know how sometimes when a nice guy is really humongous they call him “Tiny?” Well, guess how Baby Girl got her name? - but then it may have also been her lovable nature, because she is just the sweetest, big dog you’ve ever seen. She is a white and brown, 83-pound, American bulldog, mastiff, boxer mix whose tail wags nonstop when people come by to visit her. Baby Girl is ever so eager to have you spend some time with her so she can show you that she has a heart as big as her body and that she’s going to be a wonderful companion to her new family. Baby Girl was found wandering the roads near Rio Altar and Duval Mine Road in Green Valley and her rescuer had no trouble coaxing Baby Girl into her car and bringing her to TALGV. She looks as if she may have had a litter of puppies recently, but no one is really sure of her “story.” All TALGV knows is that she is one wonderful gal who will be forever thankful to find a new home where she can spend all the rest of her days loving her people and getting lots of love in return. Nash Nash is a shepherd mix, with the emphasis on mix! But he wants to remind you that mixed breeds are always the best bets because so many of them are sturdier, healthier, and so easy-going. Nash is an 18-month-old, brown and black, 35-pound guy. He was found wandering behind the new Wal-Mart in Sahuarita by a very caring police officer who let Nash ride with him for awhile, hoping that Nash just happened to slip out of a parked car and his owners were going to come looking for him at any minute, but that didn’t happen. Nash came by his name because of the law enforcement TV series character by that name. Nash is ready to come live with you and brighten your life. As a young, friendly guy, Nash will be great in just about any kind of active household that has the time to devote to helping him adjust to a new life. Then he will be ready to spend the rest of his life making you ever so glad that you made him yours! Socks Socks and his brother, Trigger, were found by their human mom when they were just wee kittens and have been together ever since. It is especially comforting for them to be together right now since they have been uprooted from everything they’ve known all their lives. Their mom and dad are parting and unfortunately they can’t go with either of them. They are neutered and declawed, guys who are gentle and tolerant. They have lived with a dog (and pretty much enjoyed it), and a very young baby (who they thought was just the most wonderful thing in the world!). Socks is a 2-year old, 14-pound, grey tabby boy with white paws and belly. He also has very pronounced white “eyeliner” around his eyes that gives him quite a striking face. Socks loves attention and kids, and is very nosy. He was sleeping in his cat bed in a spare bedroom before coming to TALGV, but if you’d like him to join you at night, he probably wouldn’t object to that one bit. It would be wonderful if Trigger and Socks could stay together, because they’d bring double the joy to your life! Powder Powder’s dad got her 11 years ago when she was only a baby and has had her ever since. At first it was just the two of them, but then he got married and had two children, and Powder’s life was a lot different. She is a beautiful, white, blue-eyed short-haired lady who was born deaf. This happens a lot with all white, blue-eyed cats, but she gets along just fine. Powder has a very unusual meow because she’s never heard a “real” one, so she just sort of made up her own! She has been living in the garage for awhile (it’s not as bad as it sounds, because sometimes it keeps her away from prying baby fingers!), but she is a real “people cat” who needs to be an only child so if you’d like company in your home, Powder would be more than happy to oblige. Because she hasn’t had a lot of exercise lately, she could stand to lose a few pounds (couldn’t most of us?), but with the run of the house, they should come off in no time! Powder is an offsite cat. For more information about her, please call 822-8498, or Linda Moser, the TALGV Offsite Cat Coordinator at 399-2526 For more information about these and other lovable pets waiting for their own, special home, visit The Animal League of Green Valley at 1600 W. Duval Mine Road, call 625-3170, or visit www.talgv.org. If you can spare a three- or four-hour block of time each week, please contact TALGV to find out about the many volunteer opportunities available. Currently, we are especially in need of men who can help us lift and move heavy items and dog handlers as many people are now leaving our area for the summer.
