About C-Span

Right on, Corky Simpson (Green Valley News column, March 14) It’s all about money.

You can imagine my surprise when, on Feb. 7, I turned to C-SPAN 2 only to get a message telling me the cable company moved that channel out of Basic Cable and into the 100 level. For more information, please call a given number.

The person who answered our call must have been Corky's pal, Georgia, because we heard almost exactly the same information — vague and unhelpful — unless we wanted to buy into expanded cable at more than twice the cost of basic.

We explored the Internet, and found that Cox Cable was changing things in hopes of signing all their customers into the new digital programing by December 2009.

It seems a shame that Cox Cable, which has a monopoly in the Green Valley-Sahuarita area can manipulate the market however they wish.
