LettersEditor: Rep. Raul Grijalva, our bright and shining star from South Tucson, has scored twice this week. First, he introduced a bill to withdraw Grand Canyon region from mining! The Forest Department in Flagstaff had already approved exploration on the North Rim — which included 39 drill holes, an obvious hazard to wildlife and horseback riders. Keep in touch, we need to support his efforts on this one. Second, several concerned citizens had contacted Grijalva’s office regarding the short notice for the public environmental hearings on Rosemont Mine. Further, although I had requested to be on their mailing list several times, I did not receive a notice. I assume there are others who did not also. Rep. Grijalva spoke with the Forest Service concerning the short notice and got them to agree to schedule further hearings. Nancy Freeman, Green Valley
