Global Chant group to start

A new Global Chant organization sponsored by the Green Valley Meditation Group, will meet from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. starting Sunday, March 23, in the Community Center at Casa de Esperanza, 780 S. Park Centre on the La Posada campus.

Chant consists of chanting followed by silent meditation and local and universal blessings. It was started in 1996 by Victor Shamas, professor of psychology at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

Since that time, the Global Chant has grown into two weekly chanting circles in Tucson.

Shamas has studied with several chanting masters and now has a repertoire of 118 chants from all over the world.

Everyone is invited to attend the new Green Valley Global Chant.

No experience or musical ability is required. Donations are welcome.

Feel free to bring a percussion instrument.
