A couple of Arizona cities have jumped the gun and are testing for unwanted pharmaceuticals that may show up in their drinking water…They’re Phoenix and Scottsdale…

…Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon said, “Phoenix will be testing its water for pharmaceuticals and we’re not waiting for the EPA or anyone else to proceed”…The Environmental Protection Agency recently disclosed that lots of places in the U.S. have water contaminated with pharmaceuticals, heart pills, aspirins and the like…

…And what’s the best thing Mayor Gordon should do if the drugs are found in the water?…Why bottle it up and sell it as “Phoenix Elixir of Life”…

Item…A truck traveling on one of California’s highways near Sacramento last weekend flipped…Cargo: scores of crates filled with 12 million honeybees…

— The Smithsonian’s final star lecture of the season will be 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, at the West Center…Faith Vilas, director of the 21-foot MMTO telescope observatory on Mount Hopkins, will talk about another project she has worked on—the current Messenger Mission to the planet Mercury…No charge…
