The Green Valley, Sahuarita and Valley Verde Rotary Clubs are holding their second radio auction Saturday with the goal of raising $25,000 for the Green Valley Fire District Fire Corps.
The auction will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on KGVY Radio, 1080 AM. Descriptions and photos of the items can be found online at
www.greenvalleyrotary.com along with the time each will be auctioned over the air, said auction chair Maureen McCarthy.
Items will be grouped together and auctioned during one-hour blocks of time with the winning bids determined every hour, she said. Anyone who places a bid will be entered into a prize drawing held at the end of each hour.
Some “big ticket” items include: a Red Skelton “Sky’s The Limit” signed lithograph, six-day canoe trip to Ontario, Canada, basketball signed by University of Arizona Wildcat’s coach Lute Olson, “Jr. Firefighter For a Day” (for children ages 5-14) with Green Valley Firefighters, and dinner for four at GVFD Station 151, hosted by firefighter (and Cajun cooking expert) Capt. Gary Pundt.
Other items include: a two-night stay (with golf for four) at the Inn at San Ignacio, one-month membership to Curves Fitness, dinner for two at Lavender Restaurant, $100 gift certificate to the White Elephant, a facial and pedicure at Experiences Salon & Spa and a baseball bat signed by Baltimore Orioles Hall-of-Famer Brooks Robinson.
At the end of the auction, a raffle will be held for a 10-day trip for two to Costa Rica. Raffle tickets are $5 and can be purchased from any Rotary Club member.
