Big sale becomes popular rite in GV

If you’re looking for bargains, you won’t want to miss the action when the doors open at 10 a.m. Thursday at Valley Presbyterian Church for its annual Patio Sale.

The sale has become so popular in Green Valley, shoppers will lining up before dawn to enter.

This year’s sale will mark the 27th year Valley Presbyterian Church, 2800 S. Camino del Sol, will open its doors to a public looking for bargains of the extreme kind.

The first sale day, Thursday, is from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. for the “early birds” who wish to pay the $5 entrance fee in order to get a chance at purchasing the bargains first.

New merchandise will be added Friday, with doors opening at 8 a.m. and closing at 4 p.m.

Saturday shopping will begin at 8 a.m. and end at noon. Selected merchandise will be marked at half-price on Saturday. Admission is free Friday and Saturday. Food and drink will be available for purchase during sale times.

For the past 28 years, members of the Valley Presbyterian Church have collected, sorted, picked up, packed up, stored, unpacked, priced, displayed and sold almost anything they could lay their hands on.

Items for sale at bargain prices in 17 different departments. They include clothing, appliances, furniture, dishes, books and games, accessories, housewares, electrical, tools, luggage, linens, pictures and frames, Christmas decorations, baskets, china, bric-a-brac, silver and antiques in the boutique — almost anything you can imagine.

Shoppers will also find many specialty items and collectibles.

The event is more than just a patio sale. Besides tables loaded with merchandise in the church, there will be a large tent outside stocked with stoves, refrigerators, sporting goods, beds and mattresses and loads of other goods.

Each year, money is donated to more than 30 charitable organizations. The organizers suggest you come early to this very popular event, which brings crowds in from as far away as Nogales, Casa Grande and Phoenix.
