NewsTUCSON — Two Green Valley businesses were winners Thursday night at the Arizona Small Business Association SASIE Awards at the Fox Theater. The Green Valley News & Sun and AristoCare Home Health Services won Sales and Marketing awards in the annual competition. AristoCare provides in-home care for the elderly. The News (Culture and People) and AristoCare (Customer Service) also were finalists in two other categories. SASIE is an acronym for Southern Arizona Smart Inspiring Enterprise. “Essentially, the community is our business,” said Publisher Pam Mox, who manages a company that produces two newspapers, six magazines and other publications designed to support the growth of area businesses and serve the informational needs of area residents. News Marketing Director Mark Bollin and Special Products Manager Kelly Walter attended Thursday night’s presentation. They praised their sales staff, which includes Mari Bon, Michelle Forehand and Iris Pasos. “We try to become valued business partners with every customer — and that includes delivering marketing plans and information that is critical to advancing their business,” Bollin said. Walter said: “Congratulations go to Pam for her vision and creative powers that made our winning possible.” Mox said the News has been successful because of its content, which “translates into value for our advertisers.” She said the business staff treats advertisers as business partners and provides them with marketing expertise and promotional guidance. “Yes, we provide valuable advertising vehicles,” she said, “but we also provide graphic design, market research, direct marketing, Web advertising, brochures, business cards, banners and signage. We even wrapped a customer’s vehicles in digital graphics.” The News was nominated in the Sales and Marketing category by Green Valley Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jim DiGiacomo. AristoCare was nominated by Bollin. “They’ve created tremendous brand awareness and visibility in a relatively short period of time,” Bollin said. AristoCare is a nine-year-old company with offices in Tucson, Green Valley, Nogales and Sierra Vista. Company President Dana Rambo was honored Thursday night — along with Remedy Intelligent Staffing’s Jayne Henninger — as business owner of the year by the National Association of Women Business Owners. AristoCare’s Green Valley area manager Stephen Brean said his staff works with approximately 70 caregivers. His local co-workers include Sandy Cano (branch support supervisor), Karina Dominguez (administrative assistant), Bobbie Rock (RN case manager), Betty Brassel (RN case manager), Donna Teixeira (RN case manger), Pam Wiggington-Fee (RN case manager), Jackie Jeffrey (senior life care program manager). “We are honored to receive this award and the recognition that comes with it,” Brean said. “Green Valley is truly a special place to work. The people here are always warm and friendly.” Brean said the company tries to support local events and people. The effort has helped build success, he said. “You have to be personable in marketing your business here,” he said. “People in the area respond better if they see you out in the community and supporting local events. They see you as genuine and will put their trust in you when they need service.” jbennett@gvnews.com | 547-9770
