More than 200 athletes and volunteers attended the Green Valley Senior Games “Kick Off Extravaganza” Tuesday morning at West Center.
Event coordinator Karen Rans said that if the next three weeks can match yesterday’s enthusiasm, this could be one of the one of the most enjoyable editions of the games’ past 24 years.
“We had loads of fun,” Rans said. “We just can’t wait to get out there and start competing.”
This year, 720 athletes and 120 volunteers signed up to participate.
Today marks the first events, with pickleball starting at 9 a.m. at East Center.
At 1 p.m., co-ed Wallyball gets going at Las Campanas.
Meanwhile, golfers will have the opportunity to play 18 holes at the course of their choice. Scores from yesterday through March 20 will count toward in individual golf event.
