Reach The World Choir performs in Sahuarita

“To The Ends of The Earth,” the 2008 theme of Reach the World Choir, will present a free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at Peace Lutheran Church, 17675 S. La Canada in Sahuarita.

Under the direction of Teri Guenther, the 23-member choir will present songs related to that theme. The choir is made up of church members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod in the Tucson and Sahuarita areas.

The choir has toured to WELS Lutheran churches throughout Arizona, California, Nevada, and New Mexico during a sixth-month period since 2000. Their mission is to reach at least one more person with the news of the Savior’s love. It is self-funded.

The concert selections include contemporary and sacred choral selections.

Mission to the Children, serving northwestern Sonora, Mexico’s children and their families with the gospel and basic physical needs since 1989, is the direct beneficiary of the choir’s 2008 tour. Mission to the Children, a non-profit volunteer organization located in Tucson, is supported by prayers, offerings, and material donations.

The mission distributes more than $5,400 of food every month to more than 600 families, including 1,000 children located in 13 towns and villages such as Sasabe, Saric, Atil, and Tubutama, in Sonora, Mexico. It also pays for medicine and medical exams, and tests for the children of the poorest of families, also including children’s vitamins, warm blankets and quilts.

Presently, Mission to the Children’s current development projects include replacing tin shacks with brick structures; awarding scholarships to allow children to attend high school; providing school supplies each August to supplement shortages; and providing Christmas presents for the children

The children of Mexico are included in the 2008 “To The Ends of The Earth” theme of the Reach the World Choir selections.
