Body Start Health and Fitness in Sahuarita recently expanded, now boasting added work-out space and more training equipment, including additional circuit training and cardio machines and free weights.

Body Start will host a grand re-opening from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, when the public is invited to visit the fitness facility, see for themselves the new equipment and talk to staff about how Body Start can help them on the road to fitness.

Located at 1660 W. Commerce Pointe Place off Duval Mine Road, just west of La Canada, Body Start is owned and operated by father and son team, Chuck and Che’ Thompson, members of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and certified personal trainers.

The former 2,800-square-foot fitness facility which opened in October 1999 has expanded to 3,584-square-feet of workout area, according to Chuck, the senior member of the Body Start team.

“We should be able to satisfy most anybody’s needs, especially those who take their workouts seriously,” Chuck added. “We expanded because the need to accommodate Green Valley members and those people in the ever-growing Town of Sahuarita.”

Treadmills and stair steppers look out to mountain views and the surrounding Sahuarita and Green Valley areas.

The fitness facility, which welcomes all ages, houses a full line of free weights, as well as specialized equipment for various body toning activities, such as machines for toning abdominal muscles, shoulders and the back muscles.

“We have members who are in their 80s and above, members of the fire and police departments, both men and women,” Chuck said.

“No one seems to be intimidated by anyone else’s strength and fitness levels. They all just come in to work out and feel better.

Men and women’s locker rooms come equipped with showers as well as generous sized lockers for clothes and personal items.

The center also features one-on-one personal training sessions and fitness evaluation.

Body Start offers a monthly membership agreement and reduced rates for three and six month advanced memberships. All prospective members are asked to fill out a health questionnaire before joining.
