Feb. 20

Green Valley Investment Club, the Profit Investment Club (PIG), has openings for a few members. It meets at 12:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at Friends in Deed, 301 Camino Casa Verde. Feb. 21

Friends of Madera Canyon will have a docent orientation for its Canyon Nature Walk Program for local fourth-grade students on Feb. 21 and Feb. 28. For information, contact Doug Moore, 520-682-0459, or maderaedu@msn.com The walks are held on Thursday mornings in March/April and October/November. The volunteer docents lead the students around Proctor Loop and help them learn about the nature and history of the canyon.

Valle Verde Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. at Green Valley Community Church. Paul Barker of American Family Insurance will give a presentation on teen driving. For information, call Lynne Skelton, 625-8286.


Better Breathers Support Group meets at 11 a.m. at St. Francis-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church, 600 La Canada Drive. Feb. 22

Desert Hills II Homeowners’ Association board will meet at 9 a.m. at the Desert Hills Center. Note that future meetings are scheduled for the fourth Friday of each month. Feb. 23

Better Than Ever fitness training program orientation is set from 10 a.m. at East Center. This supportive outreach program from the Arizona Cancer Center is free and encourages people to make exercise a part of daily life through running and walking. Friends of Sonoita Creek sponsors a series of free spring hikes, walks and interpretative programs for all ages on different aspects of the creek from Sonoita to Rico Rico. The first is at 9 a.m. at the Sonoita Creek Visitor Center within Patagonia Lake State Park. Geologist Sandy Dunzer will lead a two-mile hike with a few rocky inclines. Suburban Women’s Club of Tucson will have its 16th annual charity benefit fashion show starting at 11 a.m. at the Doubletree Hotel in Reid Park. Tickeets $40. Reservations may be made by calling 299-7833.

Feb. 24

Teapot Club of Green Valley meets at 2 p.m. at La Posada’s rec room. The group welcomes all ladies from the British Isles, or any part of the Commonwealth, who enjoy meeting on the last Sunday of each month during the winter season for socialization, sharing of backgrounds, and the usual pot of tea. Paws Patrol will meet from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Joyner-Green Valley Library.

Feb. 26

Busy Beaders meet at 9 a.m. at Friends in Deed, 301 Camino Casa Verde. This will be an open beading meetingh so bring a project you are working on. Also will be a show and tell. Bring your button challenge and the bracelet you made last time. For information, call Jane Lovat, 625-2243.

Friends of the Santa Rita Experimental Range present a lecture at 6 p.m. at East Center by George B. Tuyle, professor of range management at the U of A, who speak on “Range Livestock Production and Arizona Ranching.” It will be followed by a field trip on Feb. 27. Feb. 27

Pueblo Estates annual Variety Show will have a matinee at 2 p.m. at the clubhouse, 145 Aliso Drive. Theme “The Ted Mulligan Show,” a takeoff on Ed Sullivan.
