Twelve one-gallon containers of motor oil were found Wednesday in a wash near Pima Community College in Green Valley, reports say.

The leaking containers, dumped illegally in the desert west of 1250 W. Continental Road, were taken by Empire Machinery in Tucson and the remaining oil disposed of at their recovery station, said Pima County Sheriff’s Deputy Kirt Schulz.

Schulz says the public can help stop illegal dumping by paying attention and notifying authorities of any suspicious activity.

  • A traffic stop along La Canada Drive last week led to the detainment of seven undocumented immigrants.

A Chevy Cavalier was pulled over by Pima County Sheriff’s Officers near the intersection of La Canada and West El Nopal for having no license plate light.

When officers approached the vehicle, the driver told them he was not a U.S. Citizen. Four illegal immigrants were found in the back seat and two others were discovered in the trunk.

  • The U.S. Border Patrol was notified and took the seven into custody.

  • A home in the 18000 block of Arivaca Road was found broken into last week and the suspected culprits are undocumented immigrants, reports said.

The homeowner had been away from the residence since Jan. 15 and returned Saturday, Feb. 2, to find one of his windows broken. Food, water, backpacks, and other items were taken, Pima County Sheriff’s reports said.

The scene was processed for forensic evidence. There are no suspects at this time.
