NANCY REGANALL MILLER DUNPHY,

born in Toledo, Ohio, on Nov. 19, 1927, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008.

Her family moved to Michigan during the Depression where she attended school in a one room country school for eight years. She graduated from Dexter High School and attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and nursing school in Detroit, Mich.

She married William Dunphy in 1949, and they had three children. They moved to Defiance, Ohio, where they owned and operated a motel. She later worked as office manager at Defiance Dental Clinic.

Nancy later moved to Lonbard, Ill., to help with the care of her mother. While there, she worked as the office manager for the Wheaton Eye Clinic for several years.

In 1992, Nancy retired and moved to Green Valley. She was a member of St. Francis-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church and a very active member of Elks Lodge 2592. She served as president of the Singles Club (TGIS), was a volunteer driver for Friends in Deed and was a regular exerciser in the Canoa Hills Fitness Room. Nancy was a very energetic and creative person. She had much enthusiasm for life and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a brother John Miller of Chelsea, Mich.; sister Virginia Lyon of Green Valley; three children: Carole Emigh of Eugene, Ore., Robert Dunphy of Springfield, Ore., and Jim Dunphy of New Bavaria, Ohio; as well as four grandchildren and eight great-granddaughters.


Friends are invited to a Celebration of Nancy’s Life at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at the home of her sister Virginia.
