The past four months have shown that some of the area’s top tennis talent resides in Green Valley.

The Green Valley senior women landed atop flights A4 and A5 this past fall and winter in the Tucson Interclub Competitive Tennis League.

Marge Garneau captained the A4 team to a perfect 10-0 match record. They lost only three of 30 individual matches.

The A5 team also finished undefeated, taking all nine matches with a 23-4 individual match record.

The September-through-December league featured five flights with 36 teams and 376 players, all adults age 18 and over, ranging in ability from 2.5 through 4.5 levels from the Tucson area.

These two teams were the only ones in the league representing Green Valley.

Carol Tahse and Jan Welker captained the A5 team of mostly 3.0 and 3.5 players, including Paulette Berger, Carolyn Herron, Sharon Icenogle, Sue Kievit, Judi LeTendre, Judie Mordock, Rene’ Mosley-Smith, Rey Otto, Elaine Bosse, Linda Turck and Kathy Weber.

Sun City finished a distant second to Green Valley among the other six teams in that flight.

Garneau’s team of Nancy Crosby, Pat Dooley, Nina Clark, Ora Keller, Louise Lakatos, Carol Outtrim, Jan Phillips, Duanne Rogers, Elaine Bosse, Cathy Waddle, Mary Ann Woodrow and Garneau beat out second place Saddlebrook and four other Tucson teams to win the A4 flight, consisting of mostly 3.5 players and a few 4.0 players.

A team victory requires winning two of three doubles matches in a best of three sets format for each match.

Most of these Green Valley netters have already begun competitive play with a variety of United States Tennis Association leagues in Tucson, where they will vie for a spot in the regional, then national, USTA tournament.

" Hi
This is a wonderful opinion. The things mentioned are unanimous and needs to be appreciated by everyone. The above thought is smart and doesn’t require any further addition. It’s perfect thought from my side.
