NewsGreen Valley News Power point to focus on Santa Cruz River “Nature, People and Character of Place of the Santa Cruz River” will be the subject of a power point presentation at 3 p.m. Friday at the Casa de Esperanza Community Center. Joaquin Murrieta, Ph.D., will give the presentation. He is the director of the Northwest Mexico Regional Office of the Sonoran Institute and has worked in the Santa Cruz watershed for the last 10 years in issues related with humans and nature. He is dedicated to helping this region develop an economic base that will work in concert with the natural world and protecting this fragile ecosystem for present and future generations. The presentation and follow-up discussion are free and open to the public. Seating is limited. Contact Sue Colley at 625-2273, extension 840, for reservations. Murrieta is the second of the noted professionals who will be sharing their expertise in the Freeport-McMoRan-sponsored educational series, “Know Your Backyard, Green Valley,” at Casa through June 2008. Democrats to open headquarters in GV Democratic Club of the Santa Rita Area will open a Democratic Headquarters at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Green Valley Mall #70 (north side). Hours through February will be Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In March, the headquarters will be open Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the Democratic Women in Action responsible for Saturdays. Registration forms, information on elections and candidates, bumper stickers , etc., available.
