FIRE BURNS NEAR SCHOOL

A fire burns a large mesquite free on the Sopri School grounds in Amado late Friday afternoon. The Elephant Head Volunteer Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze, which was set intentionally, investigators said. No one was injured, and the school building was not damaged. The incident is under investigation by the Pima County sheriff’s office.
