A Jeep Grand Cherokee struck a utility pole on Sahuarita Road Thursday, shutting down east- and west-bound lanes for upwards of four hours.

The accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. about a quarter mile west of Wilmot Road, said Lt. Robert Kimmins of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department’s Rincon District.

“The uprooted pole was dangling precariously and threatening traffic,” said Kimmins.

The female driver was uninjured, he said.

Trico Electric crews were brought in to secure the pole while Rincon officers managed traffic.
