Four cuddly pets hoping to keep you company

Sid

Oh boy, someone is going to get a winner with Sid! He is a purebred cocker spaniel who was found in Sahuarita, and despite the efforts of The Animal League of Green Valley volunteers to find his owner, no one came forward to claim him. Sid has obviously been well cared for - his black and white coat is spotlessly groomed and shiny, and he seems to be well fed and very healthy. He is well trained (and behaved!) and was microchipped by someone who obviously cared about him (in 1999 in Las Vegas, but the tracking on that seems to be a dead end). He could play fetch with his ball all day long, and is as sweet and loving as can be.

If he was a puppy when he was microchipped, then he’s going to be 9 years old in February, but that isn’t very old for his breed and after you’ve spent a few minutes with him, you’ll see that he is as exuberant and vital as any 3-year-old! So if you want to start the New Year right, you couldn’t do one smidge better than Sid!

Willow

It’s sometimes hard to come up with new and different adjectives to describe puppies like Willow because many of their stories are so similar. Willow is now about 4 months old, but she was found by a nice lady when she was only 4 weeks old. The lady, like lots of animal rescuers, couldn’t keep Willow (although she was thoroughly enamored of her!). Willow is a little girl who is a mix of shepherd and something else very fluffy, who will probably be a medium to large size when she’s grown.

She did go to live with another nice lady for several months but got to be too much “puppy” for her, even though she’s as sweet and friendly as they come. So, Willow is back here at TALGV looking for a family that knows how active young canines can be and will “go with the flow” and guide her until her perfectly behaved, well-trained, “grown up” self emerges!

Asia

Asia and his sister, China, were brought by their feral mom to a yard in Amado when they were about 6 weeks old (they are now about 12 weeks old). It didn’t take long for them to learn that people are OK (especially when they have really tasty food for you!). Although they are still a bit shy, with a little patience and love, these sweeties will make wonderful additions to a special family (they are very attached to each other, and their foster mom really would like them to stay together).

Asia looks very exotic with his dark, almost black, tabby and white markings and almond shaped eyes. He is a handful who loves to run, jump, and play, play, play! China is a very beautiful, grey tabby girl who also loves to romp and play. She likes to climb on you and then play by sliding down your side.

For more information about Asia and China, please call their mom at 398-2871 in the evenings or 625-1801 during the day, or call Linda Moser, the TALGV offsite cat coordinator, at 399-2526.

Sammy

Sammy’s (short for Samantha) human mom passed away a short while ago, and Sammy misses not having her to cuddle up next to and talk to during the day. Her mom’s family couldn’t take Sammy to live with them, but they are sure that she is such a lover and so sweet and outgoing that it won’t be long before she captures someone else’s heart.

Sammy is a 2-year-old, spayed, glossy black girl who is friendly and full of life and who loves to play with both toys and people. Like most felines, she finds that counters and furniture have magical qualities, and she does try her luck at exploring them now and then, but her people say that she “reacts well to verbal warnings,” so if you aren’t into indulging her in her explorations, she’d be pretty easy to dissuade from such adventures (although she’d love it if you didn’t!).

Sammy would be a beautiful and loving addition to your family.

For more information about these and other lovable pets waiting for homes for in the new year, contact The Animal League of Green Valley at 1600 W. Duval Mine Road.
