Joe Roth

Published: Tuesday, January 8, 2008 9:18 PM MST

A Green Valley News story Friday contained incorrect information about one of the candidates for Green Valley Recreation’s board of directors, Joe Roth

Roth and his wife, Bonnie, moved here in 2005 from Carmel Valley, Calif., where was he was for many years an employee and consultant in the toy industry. He was also one of the early dot.com experts and used those skills to become chief of operations and consultant for a multimedia company, basically in the business operations of the firm. Roth works as a volunteer with Pima County courts helping foster children as a CASA court-appointed special advocate.

Roth was a Marine and served two years in Vietnam.

He has been working as a volunteer with the GVR board of directors, including working on the organization’s bylaws. He said the committee is focused on trying to update sometimes antiquated bylaws and eliminating sometimes conflicting portions of them.

He has also volunteered with GVR’s Planning and Evaluation Committee.

He has said since most GVR members are required to join, it’s very important that “we must do everything we can to protect the public’s interest” in the organization.

The News regrets the error of the earlier story.
