Rollover accident kills GV woman

An 18-year-old Green Valley woman died Sunday afternoon when the pickup truck she was driving rolled over near Mount Hopkins Road in Amado.

Andrea Klawson was ejected from the Ford F-150 pickup truck and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred around 3 p.m., Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada said.

Her 22-year-old boyfriend was flown to a nearby hospital with minor injuries; three children were also rescued, one suffering from a broken arm.

“They were driving along a dirt road near a curve, and we believe speed may have been a factor in the accident,” Estrada said.

The Green Valley, Tubac and Elephant Head fire departments, along with Santa Cruz County sheriff’s deputies, responded to the accident.

Klawson was not wearing a seat belt, though her companion and the children were properly belted, Estrada said.

The accident was the second major accident in Santa Cruz County this year. Friday morning, a local U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer was airlifted to Tucson after not being able to avoid a tractor-trailer that flipped in front of him in the southbound lane of Interstate 19. The incident happened between the Peck Canyon and Palo Parado exits near Rio Rico.

" Good work, Pima County.

In many areas of the country Mr. Woods would be free to select other desired items. The resident's initial call would have been ignored since the suspicious person did not seemingly gain entrance was no longer present. "
