Checker Auto Parts, part of a nationwide chain of auto supply stores, opened Nov. 30 in Madera Marketplace, north of the Wells Fargo Bank.
The 7,000-square-foot store sells mainly to the public and has a complete inventory of basic auto needs as well as accessories.
Included in the neat, well-laid out aisles are tools and tool sets, wipers, interior accessories, seat covers, exterior graphics, trunk tool boxes, oil, anti-freeze, replacement mirrors, steering wheel covers and car-washing items for those who like to hose down their autos.
Mary Kelly, who has been with Checker Auto in Tucson for 25 years, was transferred to run the new Sahuarita store because of her experience and excellence in customer service.
“In addition to accessories we sell alternators, batteries and starters, and we also do electrical testing for these hard parts. In addition to selling tools, we also have loaner tools available for a two-day loan,” she said.
There is no charge for loaner tools. However, there is a deposit and the amount depends on the tool.
Kelly said if a part or item that a customer needs is not in stock, she can often get next-day delivery. Depending on the part, some items may take five to 10 days.
Checker Auto Parts is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday to 6 p.m. The phone number is 625-3744.
