Super double-feature issue!

Published: Saturday, December 29, 2007 11:44 PM MST

Editor:

Thank you Green Valley News for that pre-Christmas (Sunday, Dec. 23) super double-feature issue on your editorial pages.

The editor could not have selected a more humorous, really side-splitting episode than that presented by this old boss, Joe Gilmartin, all about the piano recital and vengefully destroyed instrument which occurred at the Erawan Hotel in tropical Bangkok.

It’s our earnest wish that is published every year as Joe has done, and he’s “stuck with the story.”

The other selection was Paul McCreary’s story of “Sally’s Christmas,” which was full to the brim with pathos and then an overpowering example of the good kind of human love that an old three-conflict vet had a tough time keeping back the tears. Great good luck on your bed-and-breakfast enterprise in beautiful Array, Colo., Mr. McCreary.

Was that editorial genius, well yes.

My beloved wife and I discussed and marveled at the 35-year span (by his own count) Mr. Herman Meyer of Sahuarita has dedicated to raising Green Valley’s beautiful lighted Christmas tree. Herman has done this voluntarily every year and many of us want to thank him personally for creating this powerful reminder and special symbol for a very special American/world season. The Park Corp. now Twin Buttes Properties, which has been supportive and helpful, deserves our thanks as well.

Congratulations to all those people mentioned above for helping make Green Valley such a marvelous place to live and enjoy our lives more fully. We owe you and many others through your volunteer work and positive actions and outlook a solid vote of thanks.

Russell and Betty Jean Heller, Green Valley
