A teenager was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with an Oct. 27 residential burglary in Arivaca, and officials say he may be linked with other recent burglaries.

Dustin William Tracy, 18, of Arivaca, was arrested on one count of second-degree burglary and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center.

At a town meeting last week attended by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department’s Burglary Unit and the U.S. Border Patrol, officers announced that they had been trying to locate Tracy, who was a suspect in at least one of the 22 burglaries that, over the past three months, have created fear and uneasiness in the small community.

A media release from the Pima County Sheriff’s department said that their Fugitive Investigative Strike Team developed information leading them to an address in the 2800 block of South Cottonwood Lane in Arivaca, where Tracy was apprehended.

  • A 36-year-old Nogales woman was killed Saturday morning in an accident on Interstate 19 near Kilometer 8.

Claudia Gutierrez drifted off the roadway and hit an embankment at 3:30 a.m., a spokesperson for the Arizona Department of Public Safety said Saturday.

  • An 82-year-old Green Valley woman was killed last Friday in a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Nogales Highway and Abrego Drive in Sahuarita.

Dolores Standerwick was the passenger in the vehicle driven by her 86-year-old husband, when they were struck by another vehicle while attempting to make a U-turn.

They were taken to University Medical Center where Dolores Standerwick was pronounced dead, said Matt McGlone, spokesperson for the Sahuarita Police Department.

The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Neither driver was cited, and the investigation is still ongoing, McGlone said.

  • A woman was arrested Thursday after a routine traffic stop in Amado revealed she was in possession of marijuana.

The driver Timothy U. Byrd, 34, was cited for driving on a suspended license, and his passenger, 26-year-old Urie K. Stephenson, was arrested for possession of marijuana branches/buds, which were found hidden in a box of cigarettes. Stephenson, who had two prior warrants out for her arrest, was taken to Pima County Adult Detention Center.

The arrest was made on Elephant Head Road near Interstate 19 at 8:30 p.m., when Sheriff’s Officers initially stopped the vehicle for speeding and driving erratically.

A third passenger admitted to officers he was an illegal immigrant, and was handed over to the U.S. Border Patrol.
