Anyone who has ever teed up a golf ball has searched for ways to improve his or her score.

Whether it’s using the industry’s newest equipment or enlisting trained professionals to work out the kinks in a backswing, everyone from the weekend warrior to the seasoned veteran wants to be able to pencil in smaller numbers on the scorecard.

Countless golfers looking to shed strokes from their handicaps will travel to California or Colorado to shell out big bucks for the tips and treatments available at one of the nation’s high-profile golf expos.

Torres Blancas Golf Club and dozens of local business are bringing that experience to Green Valley.

The Green Valley Golf Expo will take place tomorrow morning at 8 a.m., giving Southern Arizona golfers an opportunity to take advantage of this state’s first golf extravaganza.

“This is a really special event,” Torres Blancas club professional Rich Elias said. “All of us couldn’t possibly be more excited.”

Torres Blancas will host Peak Vision Sports, Arizona Golf Exchange, Tucson Golf Schools, Gold Canyon Health and Fitness, Lordex Spine Center, Yoga Saguaro, Body Quest Pilates, Romney Chiropractic, Xango and Glenda Martinez Personal Training as they demonstrate various tricks and tools a golfer can use to improve his or her performance.

The expo also features the latest equipment, PGA instruction, golf packages, interactive exhibits and contests.

In addition, Footjoy, Cobra, Titleist and dozens of other brands will have all of their latest equipment available for any expo attendee to test out.

Many of these companies’ products will be seen for the first time at this expo.

“In many cases, we will be taking the wrapping off of some clubs for the very first time,” Elias said.

Even though Green Valley’s cloudy conditions threatened to put a damper on tomorrow’s festivities, all range stations at the expo will be covered by a tent to keep the golfers dry.

“Rain will not be an issue,” Elias said. “We have capabilites to move all exhibitors inside or on the patio.

Elias has been planning this event for more than eight months and expects this to be one of the area’s biggest golf events.

“This is the first time anything like this has happened in Arizona,” Elias said.

He said similar golf expos can run from $250 to more than $1,000.

The Green Valley Golf Expo will be entirely free for every participant.

“Our event combines an equipment demo day along with local specialists dedicated to help golfers raise their game to peak performance,” Elias said.
