The Green Valley Community Chorus will present a seasonal winter concert, “Sing We Noel,” Monday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 2:30 p.m. at Valley Presbyterian Church, 2800 S. Camino del Sol.
Under the direction of Marge Spiering, assisted by Al Saterbak, the program will feature holiday numbers including the spirited “Hodie Chistus Nautus Est,” the profound “O Magnum Mysterium,” the familiar “Carol of the Drum,” the rhythmic “African Noel,” plus two well-known choruses from Handel’s “Messiah.”
The women will be featured in a swing version of “Getting’ in the Mood for Christmas” under the direction of Marge Spiering and the men will perform Child of God under the direction of Al Saterbak.
Featured soloists include Lu Vos, Hal Youngren, Janet Gelhar, and Marilyn Kabat. An octet made up of Ron Bell, Judy Brown, Eloise Fredrickson, Donita Gross, Ruth O’Brien, Don O’Brien, Norm Popp, and Ken Saunders will perform a holiday jazz trio.
Kay Jean Moore will again show her keyboard talents at the piano, and Joan Bristol will accompany at the organ.
This fine variety of holiday music makes this a concert you won’t want to miss.
Tickets are available for $8 from chorus members, the Green Valley Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce, Second Look Books, Curves, and The Answer in Gifts. For more information about concert tickets, call Harry Russell at 393-6562. Questions about the chorus should be directed to chorus President Eloise Fredrickson at 648-7317 or Vice President Moe Mekelburg at 625-4524. rford@gvnews.com | 547-9740
