NewsGreen Valley News Walk Across Arizona informational meeting Sunday Walk Across Arizona is holding an informational meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday at the East Social Center on South Abrego Drive in Green Valley. Invited speakers include Seja Snow, a consultant on yoga, reflexology, diet and Feng Shui, and Linda Clock, family and health sciences agent with the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension. They will discuss how to sign up and how to navigate the Walk Across Arizona Web site. Nov. 11 is the start of the walking program, which was started to increase physical activity and foster community spirit. The 16-week program is designed for teams of up to 10 people. The Green Valley News is a sponsor of the event. Baja Tours schedules Nogales trek to observe Dia de Los Muertos Mexico’s Day of the Dead observance is an interesting event, celebrating the life cycle and what follows. Over the last few days of October and the first ones in November, Mexicans and others will celebrate Dia de Los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. Bajas Frontier Tours will be offering a tour to Nogales, Sonora, Saturday, Nov. 3, for Dia de Los Muertos, and a guided visit to the National Cemetery just south of the international boundary. The trip leaves shortly after 8 a.m. and will return about 6 p.m. Bajas Frontier Tours said pickups can be arranged in Green Valley. The fee is $79 and for information call 887-2340. Public workshops scheduled on U.S. Forest plan revision Coronado National Forest authorities are looking to revise its management plan and will hold a series of meetings to get public input. One of the workshops will deal with the Santa Rita, Atascosa and Tumacacori mountains and another will deal with the Santa Catalina and Rincon mountains. There will be other workshops for the other geographic areas in the forest. The workshop dealing with the Santa Ritas will be 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Rio Rico High School, 1220 Camino Lito Galindo, just west of Interstate 19. The workshop dealing with the Santa Catalinas and Rincons will be 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Sheraton Hotel and Suites, 5151 E. Grant Road, Tucson. The Forest Service is revising its 1986 management plan. At each meeting there will be separate work groups on ecosystem restoration, safety and information, public access and travel patterns, preservation of open space and on collaboration and partnerships.
