NewsDirectors of Green Valley Recreation approved a $9-a-year dues increase Tuesday, expected to raise about another $110,000. It matches the Social Security’s recent 2.3 percent increase and means GVR members will pay a total of $394 a year per property. There are more than 12,350 GVR eligible dwellings in Green Valley. In another board action, board member Chuck Catino urged his fellow directors to help recruit candidates to run for four seats soon to be vacated. GVR will hold two more candidate coffee meetings where residents can get more information, said Catino. He is the chair of the Nominations Committee. The meetings will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Bell Room at Las Campanas recreation center, and at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in the West Center auditorium. Catino said seven people have indicated they’ll run, but he urged others to step forward and seek the three-year terms on the board. GVR is a big operation with 12 major and satellite recreation centers valued at more than $16 million and an annual budget of $6.5 million plus. jlamb@gvnews.com | 547-9749
