In the area briefly...
Abandoned vehicle found
An overturned vehicle was found abandoned on Arivaca Road and Milepost 20, around 11:30 p.m. Monday, according to officers’ reports. A trail of blood was found leading away from the vehicle, and the area was searched with a canine unit, but the driver could not be found. The crash scene was surrounded by debris and empty beer bottles. Though the car had no license plate, officers were able to run the VIN number and contact the family of the person determined to be driving the vehicle, who could not account for his whereabouts.

Correction
Friday’s Page One story on Esperanza Estates said members of the Samaritan Group there removed a sign on a Minutemen gathering. The group says they put up the sign warning the illegals about the Minutemen as individuals, not members of the Samaritan Group, because they believe the presence of the Minutemen can be dangerous since they are armed. Also, the story said the intersection of Continental Road and Camino del Portillo is in Esperanza Estates. It is not. The News regrets the errors.
