Sept. 15
Republican Legislative District 30 will meet on Saturday, Sept. 15, at American Legion Post 109, 15921 S. Houghton Road, Corona de Tucson. Phone: 520-762-5652. Sept.16
Military Officers Association of Green Valley will have a luncheon meeting on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 12:15 p.m. at La Posada’s Eldorado room. Speaker will be Major Gen. Don Shepperd, USAF (Ret.), who retired in 1998 from the Pentagon serving as director, Air National Guard. He currently is a military consultant for CNN TV and is a speaker on leadership and terrorism.

Green Valley Wood Carvers meet on Monday, Sept. 17, at 8:30 a.m. at Friends in Deed, 301 Camino Casa Verde. Any wood carvers interested in an active carving club or anyone wishing to learn how to carve is welcome. For information, call Vern Preator, 393-0553.

Center for Positive Living presents “Arizona Gems” on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Amado Territory Inn in Amado. John Greene and Cheri Taylor, owners of Blackstar Mines, have bee mining “Tucson Blue” for 10 years. This opal occurs only in a small area. John cuts the stones, Cheri uses them in pieces of jewelry art. They will share their expertise, love and knowledge of the history of this area and the gems that may be found here. Cost is $15. Rotary Club of Green Valley meets on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at noon at St. Francis-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church, 600 La Canada Drive.
