Green Valley Assistance Service has announced the theme for its Seventh Annual Gala, “Honoring Our Past and Preparing for the Future” slated for Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Tubac Golf Resort and Spa.

This year’s honoree is social worker Edythe Taylor, who will be recognized as the founder of GVAS and for her humanitarian contributions to the Green Valley community.

The dinner and auction will begin at 4:30 p.m. with an opportunity to view the auction items and nibble hors d’oeuvres during the champagne reception sponsored by Tubac Golf Resort & Spa.

Among the items up for the silent and live auction will be restaurant and wine packages, a jewelry creation by Tubac artist John Ford, spa packages, gift certificates from Mind to Motion, Pilates Plus, a custom glass piece created by Tom Philabaum and tickets to the Tucson Symphony,

Other items include jewelry from Marshall Jewelers, and from Laurie and Lisa designs, as well as original works of art, including hand-painted furniture by Nancy Gustafson, and sculptures by Bill Worrel and James Moore, donated by the Karin Newby Gallery.

David Grounds, president and CEO of Dorn Homes, will serve as emcee for the evening and as the auctioneer.

A dinner sponsors describe as “truly elegant” will follow.

Throughout the evening the Cool Breeze Ensemble, sponsored by Bill’s Home Service will provide Latin American music with a jazz twist.
