NewsPascua Yacqui tribe suspends chairwoman The Pascua Yacqui tribe has suspended its chairwoman over allegations that she violated ethics policy. The tribal council decided that Herminia Frias should be suspended from her duties for one year even though she has only 10 months left in her term as chairwoman. Frias originally was accused of 22 violations of the tribe’s ethics policy by council members. Details of those violations were not disclosed by tribal officials. Frias plans to file an appeal in the tribal court system soon, according to her chief of staff Pilar Thomas. Seminar to focus on life planning On Aug. 29, Carondelet Hospice and Palliative Care will be presenting a special service to the Green Valley Community, “Life Care Planning For Everyone.” The new “Life Care Planning for Everyone” DVD presented by the office of the Attorney General Terry Goddard will be show at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. at Friends in Deed, 301 Camino Casa Verde. Lion’s Club bin closed Thursday The Lions’ recycling bin, located adjacent to the Pima County Library, will be closed all day Thursday, Aug. 9, for memorial services for Larry Hazel, the dedicated Lions Bin manager.
