VA to host American Indian vets

The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System will host the “Gathering of American Indian Veterans” Saturday, June 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the R.E. Lindsey Jr. Auditorium in building 4 at the VA campus, 3601 S. Sixth Ave., Tucson.

The free program will focus on Arizona’s American Indian Veterans and their families.

The purpose of the gathering is to help point out numerous benefits available for eligible veterans in the area of health care and veteran entitlements.

Representatives from the Indian Health Service, Tribal Veterans Organizations, The Arizona American Indian Advisory Committee, Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services and representatives from VA Health Care administration, VA Benefits Administration, as well as the VA National Cemetery Administration will also be providing health screenings and wellness education.

Opportunities to meet, gather information and share experiences with other Native American veterans will also be available.
