Desert Hills II Homeowners’ board meets on Thursday, May 24, at 9 a.m. at Desert Hills Center. There will be no DH2 board meetings during June, July and August. There are important items on the May meeting agenda. For information, call Oscar Cornejo, 648-0025.

Green Valley Republican Women and Greater Green Valley Republican Club willl meet on Friday, May 25, at Friends in Deed, 301 W. Camino Casa Verde. Social at 9 a.m., business meeting at 9:30 a.m., program at 10 a.m. Speakers will be Sharon Collins, assistant state superintendent of public instruction, on “The Current Status of Education in Arizona,” and Sarah Bailey on the proposed immigration bill. Valley Quilters Guild meets the fourth Friday of the month at 1 p.m. at St. Francis-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church, 600 S. La Canada Drive. All levell quilters are welcome. For information, call Janie Schott, 625-7944.

The Order of the Eastern Star willl have an installation of officers on Saturday, May 26, at 1 p.m. at the Green Valley Masonic Lodge, 18090 S. La Canada Drive, Sahuarita. Worthy Matron-elect Mazie Jean Hastings and Worthy Patron-elect Harold Lindamood invite members, friends and famiy members of officers to attend. Reception after the meeting. The Committee to Save the West Desert Preserve will meet on Thursday, May 31, at 2 p.m. at Abrego North Center. This is an independent citizens committee that meets to continue actions to preserve the open desert land between the mines and west side of Green Valley. A representative from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service will make a presentation about the Pima pineapple cactus. The public is welcome. For information, se www.savethwestdesertpreserve.org

June 8>
Pima County Republican Club will have a fundraiser tribute to Ronald Reagon on Friday, June 8, at Wild Horse Ranch, 6601 North Camino Verde, Tucson. Social hour at 5:30 op.m. dinner and program at 6:30 p.m. RSVP to Penny MacArthur, 327-1256 by 7 p.m. Monday, June 4.
