May 4

The Green Valley Air Force Association will meet on Friday, May, at 11:30 a.m. at the Elks Lodge, 2951 S. Camino Mercado. All AFA members and guests are welcome. For information, call W.A. Lafferty, 625-9449.

May 7

ALOHA — Adult Loss of Hearing Association will meet on Monday, May 7, at 10 a.m.  in its new facility, the recreation room at La Posada which is “looped” for those who have a T coil in their hearing aids. There will reports on new technology, what Hearing Loss of America can do, and sharing of stories. There will be refreshments. For information, call Mary, 648-1266.

Southwest Gardeners will  have a luncheon on Monday, May 7,  at La Posada’s rec room. Social hour at 11 a.m., followed by lunch, installation of officers and a treasure-filled auction.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8027 will meet on Monday, May 7, at 7 p.m. at M&I Bank, 279 W. Continental Road. New officers will be voted in. For information, call Steve Yuhasz, 648-5647.


Green Valley Wood Carvers meet on Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Friends in Deed, 301 W. Camino Casa Verde. Any carver interested in an active club, or anyone interested in learning how to carve, is welcome. For information, call Vern Preator, 393-0053.

Green Valley Spinners and Weavers Guild meets on Tuesday, May 8, at 1 p.m. at Bank of America, 410 W. Continental Road.  A plan for programs during June, July, August and September will be discussed. Anyone with an interest in fiber art is welcome. For information, call Bernice Vertner, 648-1874.

Rotary Club of Green Valley will meet on Tuesday, May 8, at noon at St. Francis-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church, 600 S. La Cañada Drive. Green Valley Branch No. 77, Fleet Reserve Association, will have a luncheon meeting on Tuesday, May 8, at 11:30 a.m. at the Cow Palace in Amado. Active duty, reserve and retired enlisted personnel and honorably discharged former members of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, and commissioned officers of the sea services with prior enlisted service, and their ladies, are welcome. Green Valley Forum will meet on Wednesday, May 9, at 10 a.m. at East Center. Erec Toso will talk about his new book about physical and emotional changes and recovery from a near-death experience after a snake bite. All GVR members and their eligible guests are welcome.

Elks Auxiliary will have a luncheon on Wednesday, May 9, at 11:30 a.m. at the Elks Lodge. The Sahuarita High School Choral Group will be featured. For information, call Marcella Moelhman or Jan Schade.

Fibromyalgia Support Group meets on Thursday, May 10, at 12:30 p.m.  at Friends in Deed, 301 W. Camino Casa Verde. Bring a brown bag lunch and beverage. Calle Norburya from Body Balance Natural Health will speak on massage, aromatheraphy and other alternative therapies. This is the last meeting of the season. The group will resume in November. La Posada’s support group for caregivers of dementia and Alzheimer’s residents will meet on Friday, May 11, at 10:30 a.m. in the private dining room of La Vista, 501 S. La Posada Circle. This meeting is held on the second and fourth Friday of each month and is free and open to anyone interested in attending.
