Green Valley Toastmasters #3582 meets on Thursday, May 3, at 8 a.m. at M&I Bank Annex. Come and have fun learning how to speak in public. Free Coffee. Last weekly meeting will be May 10. Santa Cruz Valley chapter of the Society of Southwestern Authors meets on Monday, May 7, at 1 p.m. at the Joyner-Green Valley Library. Speaker will be Sam Turner, a retired art and writing teacher who regularly contributes to Arizona Highways and the Aviation and Business Journal. He and his wife Phyllis have published “This Might Help, a Three-Year Walk Through the Valley with the Compassionate Friends,” a compilation of columns from the Tucson Compassionate Friends newsletter offering guidance, comfort and hope to parents who have suffered the death of a child.
