GVR says it had 900,000 users in 2006

Green Valley Recreation recorded more than 900,000 visits last year to its facilities, to swim, to attend classes, concerts and homeowners’ association meetings and to play cards.

Recreation Director Anndrea Blackshear reported the year’s total at the GVR’s board of directors meeting earlier this month.

GVR divides its attendance figures into three categories, general facility usage, GVR programs and reservations.

General facilities usage includes such things as the pools, fitness rooms and dedicated space classes.

GVR programs includes such things as concerts and dances.

Reservations includes such things such as social and special interest clubs and homeowners’ association meetings.


The most popular activities in general facility use are pools 233,715, fitness rooms 209,596, tennis 38,729, woodshop 20,512 and billiards 15,084.

The top five groups in the reservations category were cards and games 50,279, rentals 34,316, private member functions 22,534, arts and crafts 20,742 and homeowners’ associations 17,711.

The most popular programs were instructional classes 63,033, concerts 14,287, special events 6,286, movies 5,808 and lectures 5,302.

GVR has six centers and six satellite centers.
