Desert Hills Lutheran to host World Day of Prayer

Published: Tuesday, February 27, 2007 10:40 PM MST

Desert Hills Lutheran Church, 2150 S. Camino del Sol, is hosting World Day of Prayer Friday, March 2, at 10 a.m. Men and women of all faiths are invited to attend this service.

More than 170 countries around the world will be celebrating World Day of Prayer, written this year by the women of Paraguay. This year’s theme, “United Under God’s Tent,” celebrates our shared belief in God’s promise as a diverse people of faith. The chosen scripture comes from Genesis 18, in which Abraham invites others to come into the tent.

More than $40,000 in domestic and international grants were given from the 2005 offerings. The 2006 offerings are currently being distributed to HIV/Aids projects working with women and children in South Africa, in the united States and around the globe. Offering checks can be made payable to “World Day of Prayer.”
