NewsA Green Valley News story by reporter Jim Lamb Friday, Feb. 23, reported interviews with eight candidates for the Green Valley Recreation board of directors. One of them, Jim Molski, suggested some clarifications to his comments. Molski said he did not say people should be allowed to fall behind on the dues. “I indicated the current member assistance program should be able to help all members who qualify for assistance, and if there’s not enough money in that program, other resources may have to be looked into.” He said he did not advocate GVR developing a regional transportation system, but that GVR should look into the possibility of supporting the existing transportation program and if available, it could be used by members who don’t drive to get to various activities. Also he said, “GVR programs on the whole can be a used to attract people to Green Valley. He said he doesn’t have a problem with people in surrounding communities taking part in events open to non-GVR members, and that the staff should make the decisions on what is open to non members.” Candidate Teresa Foley said she would prefer putting a cap on dues paid by older GVR members who have lived many years here, and may be living on fixed income. jlamb@gvnews.com
