Can meditation reverse changes associated with aging?

Published: Saturday, February 24, 2007 10:54 PM MST

A free lecture exploring how the Transcendental Meditation technique addresses life and health issues of older adults will be given at the Casa de Esperanza Community Center at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

The Transcendental Meditation technique is the most widely practiced meditation technique in the world, advocates say.

Some experiences have shown that it is useful for older adults, including lower blood pressure and cholesterol, improved pain tolerance and a healthier life.

Advocates say because the TM technique gives rest that is more profound than deep sleep, it removes stress and strain and can create changes that are opposite of many changes associated with aging.

Speaking will be Dr. Denise Denniston Gerace, author of “The TM Book-How to Enjoy the Rest of Your Life,” and her husband, Dr. Joseph Gerace. They are teachers from the Tucson Maharishi Enlightenment Center.
