The Tucson Conquistadores is the host volunteer organization for the World Golf Championships—Accenture Match Play Championship.
When it was announced that this global golf event was coming to Tucson, the Conquistadores’ phones rang off the hook and corporate packages sold quickly. But somewhere along the line, misperceptions surfaced that daily tickets to the event were sold out and that tickets were priced beyond reach.
The reality: there is a healthy inventory of weekday tickets on sale now through the Tucson Conquistadores.
Single tickets are just $30 each for practice rounds on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 19 and 20, and $50 each day for competition rounds on Wednesday through Friday, Feb. 21-23.
Multiple-ticket packages for these days offer an even better deal on daily ticket prices. Saturday and Sunday tickets are only available with the Championship Package, which includes four tickets for each day at an average ticket price of less than $45, along with some popular perks.
Members of the Conquistadores bring decades of experience to their assignments for hospitality and ticket sales, volunteer recruitment, training and supervision, and other operational duties.
The reward for their service is over $1 million for The First Tee of Tucson and other youth athletic programs. The Conquistadores' earnings could go up to $2 million if they sell all available tickets.
“The businesses and citizens of Southern Arizona have supported us and the youth programs we serve for over 40 years,” said Tucson Conquistadores' tournament chairman John Belton. “The ability to make a difference in the lives of our kids and help bring one of the most prestigious and enjoyable golf events to our community is a win-win.”
The event is also expected to bring $100 million in economic impact to the community. Economic impact figures are provided by the International Federation of PGA Tours.
The World Golf Championships—Accenture Match Play Championship is Feb. 19-25 at The Gallery Golf Club at Dove Mountain.
