Bosse to receive Eagle Scout Award

Published: Friday, April 8, 2005 7:37 AM MST

Richard Matthan Bosse, a member of Boy Scout Troop 383, will be receiving his Eagle Scout award, Sunday, April 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 17699 S. Camino de las Quintas in Sahuarita.

Friends, family, and acquaintances are invited to attend.

Arleen Boyuls, president, Green Valley Chamber of Commerce, said she takes great pride in issuing a proclamation to Bosse for his accomplishments in having completed the requirements for having earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

"The Eagle Scout Award is the culmination of many hours of community service and hard work. Congratulations to Richard Matthan Bosse, Eagle Scout, from all the members of the Green Valley Chamber of Commerce," Boyuls said.

To earn the highest award in Scouting, Matthan has earned 27 merit badges, served as a leader in his troop and completed a major community service project.

Matthan's Eagle Scout project consisted of building a new cage for a coatimundi at the Simpson's Wildlife Sanctuary.

The Simpson's Wildlife Sanctuary is a local, nonprofit facility that provides a clean, well-equipped facility for holding, rehabilitating and releasing any wildlife species designated by the Arizona Game and Fish Department and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Matthan organized Boy Scout Troop 383 to construct a study cage that would contain the coatimundi residing at the Simpson's Wildlife Sanctuary.

The previous cage was destroyed by termites after 15 years use. The new cage was approximately 8' high, 10' wide, and 12' long and constructed of metal to withstand termites.

Matthan Bosse is the son of Brian and Meribeth Bosse and is one of four children. He is an honor student at Sahuarita High School, plays trumpet in the band and is a member of the N.J.R.O.T.C.
